Norwalk Fire Damages Home. Cause Undetermined
Firefighters battled a blaze at John Scalf’s Ontario Street home in Norwalk for three hours starting 12 18 pm. Scalf, 62, described total loss of a $12 000 dwelling and $8 000 contents including his gun and coin collections. The fire’s origin was in the center of the house and the cause was not yet determined. A Norwalk councilman Morgan Jones drove by and alerted authorities. Scalf said he was on a land contract for the house and faced uncertain insurance coverage. Separate: UPI reports that several states moved to ratify the 26th Amendment lowering voting age to 18 with Delaware Connecticut Minnesota Washington and Tennessee approving.
