ABC commentator Harry Reasoner charged Time and Newsweek with unprofessional handling of the Watergate story. He said their lead stories were more pamphleteering than objective journalism, embarrassing all journalists during the ABC evening news commentary segment.
Ohio University basketball coach Jim Snyder announced his retirement effective June 30 after more than four decades with the program. He led the Bobcats to the Mid American Conference title this past season and said he is tired of coaching.

Eddie L. Bressman is appointed by Mayor Wayne Goodsite to the Norwalk Board of Zoning Appeals filling the vacancy created after Noel Arnold joined the Planning Commission. The first ward resident, he lives with his wife Ruth at 60 Parsons St and works at New Departure in Sandusky.
The park and recreation board will meet at 7 30 tonight in City Council chambers.
In Nashville a Tennessee Senate bill passed prohibiting unmarried men and women from living in the same college dormitories without fixed walls between them. The measure targets cohabitation in dorms and requires physical separation.
Vice President Ford privately questioned Nixon's Watergate handling at a breakfast with reporters noting that Nixon did not report hush money payments told by Dean. Ford raised obstruction of justice concerns and questioned impeachment catalyst, while calling for no immediate impeachment given lack of current evidence.
