Norwalk centenarian Stella Mills, born March 17 1879, celebrated her 100th birthday with a luncheon at the Memorial Lake Clubhouse. She danced with Mayor Wayne Goodsite and Sheriff John Borgia, insisting she stays active and loves old time dances like polkas and waltzes.
In Vermilion Ohio five people were rescued after five boats capsized on the Vermilion River during strong currents. Teens Dean Maclean Terry Gentry Ralph Williams Ed Hall and firefighter Richard Parsons were saved from an island after the incident on Monday night.
Weather clears tonight with a low near 30 and partly cloudy Wednesday with highs in the mid 40s. 20 percent precip chance, SW winds 10 to 15 mph. Monday temps 39 to 33, trace precipitation. Births include a Norwalk boy and Vermilion and Norwalk girls. Deaths listed for Milan and Norwalk residents. Tidal waves misnamed tsunami clocked at 670 mph at 30,000 feet depth.
Huron County Park Board, dormant since 1978, met with Palm County Commissioners to seek start-up funds. A levy on the ballot was floated, while two years of seed money and a full-time director were sought to develop park plans, with sites near Willard, Bellevue, and Norwalk discussed for future action.

The Ways and Means Committee approved a bill by Sen. Jerome Stano to raise the qualifying income for the homestead tax relief from 10000 to 15000 dollars. The amendment boosts total relief from 3.2 million to 16 million while preserving major breaks for low income homeowners.
Beef prices climbed to record highs from Omaha to Chicago after a Midwest blizzard cut cattle deliveries, while several major coffee roasters announced price cuts of 4 to 5 cents per pound. Folger and Hills Bros lowered ground coffee to 2.43 dollars, 13 ounce cans to 1.96, Coca Cola’s Maryland Club and Butter-Nut also dropped 5 cents per pound to 2.43, Extra Measure down to 1.96 for 12 ounces, MJB trimmed to 2.43, Maxwell House held at 2.48.
