Fresno State College professor Byron Black age 29 a linguistics teacher and Resistance member ate his draft card during a campus rally. Police report no injuries but a protest gesture drew attention at the college.
Wreckage of a local service airliner missing with 19 aboard was found in El Yunque National Park 14 miles east of San Juan. The tail was upside down among heavy foliage and a few bodies were observed by a USMC helicopter pilot. A ground party was dispatched to the scene.
After Chaminade-Dayton Roth won 71-70 in the district Class AA tournament at the University of Dayton Fieldhouse, a dozen rock throwing incidents injured seven and led to eight juvenile arrests on malicious destruction and assault charges as about 40 police officers contained fights and 10 car windshields were shattered.
City Council approved a 3 percent motel hotel tax and a 25 percent rise in licenses and permits starting April 1, expected to raise over 400000 in 1969 for operating the riverfront stadium and the new convention center. In Coronado, a Pueblo sailor testified he carried more than ten bags of secret papers during captivity, as a court probes the crew's conduct during 11 months held by North Korea.

Apollo 9 astronaut Russell L. Schweickart returned to his landing craft and felt much better after nausea briefly sidelined a planned spacewalk. Flight commander James McDivitt said Schweickart was feeling a lot better and the full spacewalk was reinstated.

Police Commissioner J B Rucker says officers who filed manslaughter charges against Winston M Blount III acted too hastily and he is weighing dropping them. Blount, 24, is charged with second degree manslaughter in the death of his wife Beverly 24 after a car crash on a suburban road. Bond set at 500 dollars, hearing March 18. Rucker to discuss with the district attorney. He notes prominence not a factor and regrets the court case.

Ruth Eisemann-Schier, the FBI’s first female most wanted suspect tied to the Barbara Mackle kidnapping, was arrested at the Boomerang drive-in in Norman near Oklahoma University. Bond set at 500000. she worked there as Donna Wills and was to be arraigned.
