A 14-year-old with a knife in his sleeve was grabbed by an Ingham County deputy two feet from Mrs. Richard Nixon as Pat Nixon prepared for a presidential visit in Lansing. A second youth was detained briefly. Both were questioned and released. police continued the probe.
UPI reports Senator Frank Lausche claims the reduced bombing of North Vietnam has not yielded results as Ho Chi Minh escalates. He was among 79 senators opposing a vote to restore funds for higher monthly bombing sorties. Also noted is the death of jazz trumpeter Ziggy Elman at Sepulveda Veterans Hospital.
Delta Airlines suspended sailor pilot Hugo Vihlen after he was at sea for his Atlantic crossing when a required medical exam was due. He may be reinstated if he passes the examination and rationalizes a 26 day overdue leave. his 85 day Atlantic crossing kept him at sea past his leave expiry.
Roy Wilkins told NAACP officials in Atlantic City that no candidate would be invited to address the 59th convention. McCarthy aides said the senator would likely travel to Atlantic City, despite Wilkins threatening a public blast if he appeared. In London, James Earl Ray testified he did not kill Martin Luther King Jr., denying the assassination in Bow Street Magistrates Court.
Cleveland veteran bandleader Clinton W Noble died after an apparent heart attack in his car. He 62 led the Noble Bergner Agency booking about 1000 acts yearly and played with Austin Wylie Paul Whiteman Guy Lombardo Ted Weems and Tommy Dorsey. Funeral services are set for Friday.
Hubert H. Humphrey moves to organize a presidential bid with former Postmaster General Lawrence F. O'Brien as an unpaid adviser. In California riots, 80 to 100 people arrested for looting and curfew violations amid second night of violence. In Vietnam, Allied forces report 417 rockets captured and 124 guerrillas killed using new body odor sensing devices. Marines at Khe Sanh endure heavy pressure from 10,000 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops.

Sheriff John Borgia reports talks with Norwalk Theatre manager Lewis LaBonte about The Graduate. He cites a religious review noting sexual content and says the film should be restricted for youths while admitting under 18 with an accompanying adult.
The State Development Department reports 1967 average Huron County family income of 8011, below Ohio's 9203. Geauga leads at 10757 while Adams trails at 4878. Huron ranks 51st of 88 counties with total personal income 119.358 million. Ohio totals 29.2 billion, 8% higher than 1966. Cleveland tops state income at 6.6 billion, with the average local family at 10600.
