Explosion Kills One Miner in California Tunnel
A natural gas blast in an underground tunnel near Sylmar California killed one of 17 workers two miles from the shaft entrance. Rescue teams found the victim asphyxiated by smoke and dust after a derailment deep in the five mile tunnel. 16 others were feared dead.
