Judy Garland dies at 47 in London bathroom

Judy Garland was found dead in her London home at age 47. Scotland Yard ruled out foul play and expected autopsy findings to explore possible natural causes or an accidental overdose. Pentagon studies plan to withdraw up to 325000 Vietnam troops

The Defense Department has contingency plans for withdrawing as many as 325000 U.S. troops from Vietnam if ordered by President Nixon, with options ranging from 25000 more in August to a full recall by year end 1970. The White House has approved only the July end 25000 pullout so far.

Automatic chicken cooker tested at Norwalk plant

A Norwalk engineer's batchless chicken cooker operated at 720 pieces per hour during a Saturday test. Walter Kuhlman, president of The Roto Corp and Kuhlman Machine Co, named inventor, aims to sell rights to a nationwide firm and has Kentucky Fried Chicken interest. The system uses a U tube design with 14 minute through flow and controlled temperatures for continuous output. In Washington, Warren Burger was sworn in as chief justice, with President Nixon praising Earl Warren and pledging court continuity and justice without regard to persons.

No Suspects Yet In Beating Of Milan Woman

Authorities say Mrs. Leon Colvin remains in critical condition at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital after being beaten in her Milan home Friday. Sheriff Al Hess has questioned one person but released no names and sees no suspects at this time. He notes no link to a prior Cassidy family murder and says investigators still await doctors’ clearance before talking with Mrs. Colvin.

Murder Trial Opens Tuesday in Huron County

Patricia Lawrence, 28, of Willard, faces first degree murder charges in the death of her 3 year old daughter. Indicted by the Grand Jury in April, the case opens Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Huron County Common Pleas Court with a three judge panel comprising Judges McCrystal, Kear, and Vetter.

Greenwich Council Backs Osteopath Admission at Willard Area Hospital

Greenwich Village Council says it will support an osteopaths admission to the staff of Willard Area Hospital. Three osteopaths have shown interest in opening offices in Greenwich if admitted, per activist Sylbert Keiser. Hospital administrator Dick A. Falk reports no applications yet.
