President Johnson travels by air 122 miles from White House to Glassboro State College for a summit with Kosygin. The choice of Glassboro, 11 miles east of turnpike exit 2, reflects a compromise location between New York and Washington.
Glassboro New Jersey woke to a security surge as 16 police grew to hundreds of state troopers and Secret Service agents. White House and press lines were laid and almost 1,000 reporters swarmed the town after news of a Kosygin Johnson summit. Glassboro State College adds 3,250 students to a 15,000 population during the school year.
President Johnson and Soviet Premier Kosygin met in Glassboro New Jersey for their first personal talks since 1961. They greeted with handshakes and began a wide ranging summit likely to cover the Middle East Vietnam arms limits and East West tension. Kosygin arrived late as a police escort paraded the motorcade to the Hollybush house.

Local Employment Service representatives from Columbus Toledo and Norwalk faced questions at a Norwalk Grassroots anti poverty meeting defending that OES does not create jobs nor refer applicants until employers report openings. They stressed that employers determine hires and that the service aims to improve communication and understanding.
The Rev William L Brown longtime pastor of First Methodist Norwalk will transfer to Faith Methodist Church North Canton starting July 2 His successor in Norwalk will be the Rev Paul C Bailey from Orrville Methodist Church who has served nine years there Brown’s final sermon is Sunday The move announced at the North East Ohio Methodist Conference Lakeside includes Dr Howard Wiant as Norwalk District superintendent Brown active in local ministry and civic groups is a Bristolville native and Ohio State Garrett Evangelical alum.
