East Ohio Methodist Conference reports growth in giving

The East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church announced at its annual meeting that members contributed more than $28 million in the past year. Treasurer Thomas A. Letzler said per capita giving is $102.12, up $9.96 from last year, with church assets valued at over $228 million, a gain of more than $16 million.

Oberlin Light Plant on Verge of Bankruptcy

The Municipal Light and Power System director says the plant faces near bankruptcy as City Council authorizes Cleveland Trust Co. to foreclose if bond payments fall short. A $150,000 year-end deficit is expected, with 2,700 consumers served. Oberlin owes $995,000.

Norwalk Officials Deploy Decibel Meter to Enforce Noise Law

Police in Norwalk will use a new pistol shaped decibel meter to enforce a city noise ordinance setting limits of 84 decibels for cars and 86 for trucks or motorcycles.
