Norwalk Library Faces major facelift as repairs loom
Norwalk Public Library built in 1904 is deteriorating with falling ceiling plaster, leaking roof, and brickwork separation. Librarian Judy Born and the Library Board seek $13,000 upfront from county or city funds and $37,000 later for a two phase renovation totaling 85 000. They aim to restore the domed roof and masonry, then address interior upgrading and wiring. With 12 782 registered users and 2 331 new registrations in 1977, they project continued service for about 75 years.
