Jerald E. Spencer of Norwalk RD 2 told police at 7 46 a m Tuesday that the junior high building at 64 Christie suffered repeated lock damage on weekends. Mrs John F Lenhart reported her daughter Lou Ann a 12 knocked down by a car near Woodlawn and East Water with a man promising to call later.

Youths Held Here For Theft Of Beer
Four Oberlin youths were charged with petty larceny after being picked up in New London by the Huron County Sheriff’s Department. They allegedly took a case of beer from a truck in front of Wonder Bar on Main Street. Thomas Junior Walker, 21, Robert Howard Alster, 19, and a 17-year-old boy were jailed. another 17-year-old was released to relatives and cited into Juvenile Court. Deputies will file a full report with New London police.

Viet Cong terrorists set off two bombs at Saigon's international airport wounding 36 U S service members and 10 others. A Viet Cong battalion ambushed a South Vietnamese column 50 miles southwest of Saigon, reportedly kidnapping a U S adviser. An American pilot was killed and three wounded as a helicopter was shot down during a rescue mission. The clash continued.

The Norwalk City Council adopted an emergency ordinance issuing 96000 in general obligation bonds to retire 103000 in notes for sewage disposal plant work, with 7000 from surplus. Bonds sold July 20. notes due in August. Mayor Frey confident operating surplus will cover debt.

Police Levy Reconsidered To A Full Mill
Norwalk councilman Allen Hakes said the police levy is being re evaluated likely to a full mill rather than half. The measure was not on the latest council agenda and may be discussed at the next session on Tuesday July 6. A half mill about 14500 would not fund major improvements, while one mill about 29000 could fund modest upgrades.

Willard City Council and the planning commission studied Floyd G. Browne and Associates report proposing a 10,000,000 gallon daily intake on the Huron river west of the railroad, a 370 million gallon reservoir, a 2.5 million gallon daily treatment plant, and related facilities at a total cost of 1.774 million dollars with bond financing and rate increases. The plan foresees debt service, a minimum two month bill of eight dollars, and a 100 percent rate rise to cover the system overhaul. Council has not acted on the water situation yet.
