Bomb letters target corporations nationwide from extortionists

FBI sources say at least 12 letters containing bombs were mailed from east Texas to firms across the country. One bomb exploded at Merrill Lynch in New York injuring four. others prompted warnings to pay or be killed. A mailroom worker Mileti Philips, 50, was hospitalized in New York. Mail bombs sent to Marathon Oil headquarters in Findlay Ohio

A letter bomb mailed from Atlanta Texas to Marathon Oil Co. in Findlay was found at the headquarters but did not explode.
