Milan Police Chief Quits for Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home
Milan Police Chief Gary W. Limbird resigns to become chief of security at the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home in Perkins Township, effective July. The village council accepts the move with regrets, noting Limbird will lead a 12‑person security unit drawn from residents of the home. John Davis is hired to fill the Christopher vacancy, and the council defers most bills to audit findings while announcing a Bicentennial Dance on July 1 and water system upgrades approval.

The Norwalk School District has spent $9,946 in attorney fees to defend the board’s January firing of math teacher Barbara Hart. The bill from Squires, Sanders and Dempsey covers late January to April 30 and does not include four days of hearings or transcript costs. School Superintendent James Rubright notes the district hired Dean Jollay for expert school law advice, while the city law director remains the board’s unpaid adviser under state law.
