Mansfield Woman Killed In Head On Collision On Route 250

The first traffic death of the vacation season occurred Sunday at 3 35 p m on Route 250 north of Route 162. Mrs Karl H Kopp 47 of Mansfield died instantly nine others injured including her son Karl 12 and Mrs Ruth McCrillis 64 of Norwalk. The Kopps were returning from Cedar Point. Their 1957 Ford was destroyed while Mrs McCrillis Imperial had front end damage.

Teens loot, shootout ends with two dead in Amarillo

In Amarillo Texas a 14 year old youth bragging of murder was shot and killed by police after a 15 mile pursuit in six squad cars. A 14 year old companion was wounded and a policeman William S Meadows aged 23 also died. The youths from Boys Ranch had terrorized a ranch family and stolen a pickup. A search party sought the body of a cowboy the youths claimed to have killed.

Church Sale Okayed by First United Presbyterian Church

The First United Presbyterian Church at West Main and Church Streets voted unanimously to offer the building for sale to Atlantic Refining Co. The sale, set to take effect Oct. 12 for 45000 dollars, includes parking and driveway. the church may remove its personal property and memorials. Services may move to a local school until a new sanctuary is built. A 7 1/2 acre site on Route 250 has been acquired for future use.

London UPI Christine Keeler the so called playgirl in Britain’s Profumo scandal left Holloway Prison after nine months for perjury. She slipped out under cover of darkness and drew a crowd as she walked free, with inmates saying prison hasn’t altered her beauty.
