Across the nation leaders from many faiths join Anita Bryant in urging repeal of Dade County Florida's ordinance banning employment and housing discrimination based on sexual or affectional orientation. Voters face a Tuesday decision on repeal.
Governor James A. Rhodes arrives by Statehouse aircraft in Port Clinton and directs his cabinet to assist counties facing bankruptcy. He sat in the Ottawa County courthouse jury box and heard county and city officials’ grievances before plans to move on to Bucyrus and Kenton for similar talks.
The 1976-77 Broadway season produced 19 Tony Awards with Annie winning best musical and key categories. Dorothy Loudon earned best actress in a musical, while Thomas Meehan and Charles Strouse with Martin Charnin won for best book and score. Scenic design went to David Mitchell and Peter Genaro for choreography. Theoni V. Aldredge and Santo Loquasto shared best costume design for Annie and The Cherry Orchard.
The Russian brown bear was selected as the official mascot for the 1980 Moscow Games by the Olympic organizing committee after reviewing more than 40,000 letters. Tass reported drawings will be finalized after consultations with Soviet artists and designers.

UPI reported John Mitchell and H. R. Haldeman were ordered to prison for 30 months to eight years for obstructing justice conspiracy and perjury. Sirica gave two weeks to settle affairs before reporting June 22 to a DC marshal. Ehrlichman already began serving his sentence.
Ronald Young of Townsend Avenue faces aggravated murder charges in the early Saturday fatal stabbing and throat slitting of 49 year old Thomas Arthur Dillon. Prosecutors say the case is a crime of passion with witnesses guiding investigators to Young. Dillon, a Milan High School graduate, was found near North Hester Street after visiting Maria's Bar Friday night. He leaves a daughter Wanda and siblings Kathleen Clapp and Paul Dillon. Graveside services are planned for Milan Cemetery Tuesday.
Huron County Bank will stop heating the upper floors, forcing tenants to relocate or arrange alternate heat. The Masonic Temple, the building’s largest tenant, is considering four options including temporary quarters and a new site at West Main and Church Streets. No decision has been made.
In Norwalk voters decide if Mayor Wayne Goodsite earns a fourth term nomination amid a four mill school levy. County ballots include multiple school levies while polls run 6 30 a m to 7 30 p m. Officials urge early voting as Monroeville New London Plymouth and Willard also cast levies and bonds to support schools and fire services.
