Norwalk Native Dies in Austin Motorcycle Crash
Christine Ann Calhoun age 25 formerly of Norwalk died Thursday when the motorcycle she rode as a passenger with Frieda Jeanne Borth was struck by a car outside Austin. Borth remains hospitalized in critical condition. The driver faces involuntary manslaughter charges as alcohol was involved. Christine was a Norwalk High School cheerleader and musician who had attended Muskingum College. Surviving relatives include her parents two brothers and three sisters. Private services are planned with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery and a memorial to the Norwalk High School Music Department.

Man Found Dead Near City Elevator Stabbed to Death
A man identified as Arthur Dillon was found on a path near the Firelands Elevator and abandoned tracks on North Hester Street. Coroner Dr. William Holman ruled homicide by stabbing, probable neck wounds, as police continued investigation with no details released.

Norwalk police shooting case ends in out of court settlement
Richard Hutchinson of Lima sued after being shot July 18, 1974 by Norwalk Police Officer Gary DeWalt during an arrest attempt tied to the abduction of a nine year old girl. An insurer official said the settlement is about fifty thousand dollars, within the general range, but exact figures not disclosed. Cleveland attorney Robert Archibald, representing the city’s insurance firm, declined comment. The settlement occurred on Tuesday.
