Death by spontaneous combustion puzzles 1876 readers

Reflector reports in France on a drunkard who drank a quart and a half of brandy daily and died after locking himself in a room. Doctors say combustion occurred soon after he lay down. Also noted is a fatal buggy accident in Hartland when a horse reared and threw a woman who died from injuries. Bellevue school bids and a $1,000 Huron town hall project are mentioned along with 1876 smallpox fears and a rusty nail linked lockjaw death. Doctors advertised cures for piles in the Cline Block.
