City alumnus murdered in Wichita bar fight
Barry Smith a 1975 Norwalk High School graduate was stabbed to death outside the Shocker Lounge in northeast Wichita after a conflict with coworker Tracy Williams 18. Smith 23, died at Wesley Hospital. Williams to be charged with first degree murder. Smith, who played football at Norwalk, lived with his uncle on Gibbs Road and is survived by his wife Edith and a daughter. Funeral plans in Akron.

Ream to Leave Norwalk City Council in July
William Ream will exit the Norwalk city council in July to take a new job in Illinois. He faces a primary on Tuesday for one of the at large seats. party officials will nominate a replacement for November. Incumbent Wayne Goodsite and Henry Schaper vie for mayor. Voters in 67 precincts vote 6 30 a.m. to 7 30 p.m. Also on the ballot is Ehove Vocational School millage request of .5 mill for five years, expected to raise $325,000 annually. district votes include a .42 mill levy renewal and an additional 0.5 mill. The 82 graduates of St Paul High School marked end of school with a two hour mass in church. Rev John T Hiltz urged students to discover their gifts, balance self worth and faith, and give back to the world while parents were praised for guiding growth. Salutatorian Thomas Carabin Jr and Class President James Colvin led the service with awards, readings, and diplomas presented by Rev Robert Thomas.

Norwalk Serviceman Killed In U.S. 250 Crash
Pfc. Patrick W. McCrain 22 died about six hours after a three vehicle collision on U S 250 near Mason Road. Michael Brownell 20 is in critical condition. Glina Damron 24 and Carl Thomsoon 19 treated and released. Several others hospitalized. scene cleared after about 12 hours. McCrain, from Norwalk, had been home on leave and served at Seneca Army Depot. Funeral details set with St Paul Catholic Church.

Vandals smash 284 windows at Western Reserve High
In a second major attack in five months vandals damaged about 284 windows at WR Collins on U S 20 early Sunday. The spillover cost may reach thousands with repairs, while 85 percent of the complex windows were shattered. No disruption to classes as examinations proceed.
