Gov. John Gilligan proposed extending voting rights to students and faculty on all state supported college boards and the Ohio Board of Regents. The plan would expand boards from nine to 17, adding four students and four faculty members per trustee body, with staggered terms and a governance path for Regent representation.

State Highway Patrol reports 48 year old Frank P. Feleppelle of Cleveland critically injured when his car lost control eastbound on the Ohio Turnpike west of Lorain Elyria exit. The vehicle struck a guardrail and dirt mound, then vaulted the Baumhart Road overpass and landed on the east bank. Car demolished.
