Ohio governor seeks student and faculty voting seats on state college boards

Gov. John Gilligan proposed extending voting rights to students and faculty on all state supported college boards and the Ohio Board of Regents. Bank robbery at Sangley Point base ends in gunbattle

A group of eight to ten robbers attacked the American Express bank inside the Sangley Point U S Navy Base near Manila. They seized the bank manager and hostages, released them, and fled with about 42000 dollars. A U S Marine lieutenant and one robber were killed in the ensuing gunfight.

Car flips over Turnpike bridge in Castalia

State Highway Patrol reports 48 year old Frank P. Feleppelle of Cleveland critically injured when his car lost control eastbound on the Ohio Turnpike west of Lorain Elyria exit. The vehicle struck a guardrail and dirt mound, then vaulted the Baumhart Road overpass and landed on the east bank. Car demolished.
