New Tax Law Lowers Withholding for Most Workers

The new tax law, effective June 1, reduces withholding on most paychecks. Most couples earning about 10,000 to 12,000 yearly see roughly a 2 dollar weekly decrease, with up to 4 dollars for some middle income pairs. Some singles earning 13,750 or more may see a small increase.

Millions of married women will be listed on credit histories with banks stores and oil companies. Ann Geary of the Federal Reserve says this ensures married women have adequate credit histories when needed. The Fed issued guidelines applying to all lenders under equal credit opportunity laws enacted in 1975 and 1976.

Widman Resigns to Take Florida County Engineer Post

City Engineer James Widman resigns effective July 16 to become assistant county engineer in Charlotte County Florida. 27 year old Ohio State graduate leaves after five years with Norwalk citing greater opportunities and warmer climate.
