The Committee To Promote the School Levy announces hot lines to answer questions about Norwalks four-mill operating levy. Call 668-1989 or 668-2779 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday, plus Monday, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The new tax law, effective June 1, reduces withholding on most paychecks. Most couples earning about 10,000 to 12,000 yearly see roughly a 2 dollar weekly decrease, with up to 4 dollars for some middle income pairs. Some singles earning 13,750 or more may see a small increase.

City Engineer James Widman resigns effective July 16 to become assistant county engineer in Charlotte County Florida. 27 year old Ohio State graduate leaves after five years with Norwalk citing greater opportunities and warmer climate. Widman will begin around July 18 and will be entitled to two weeks vacation. He plans to live in Fort Myers initially and notes support for open government during his tenure.
