Skydiving Is Recreation For 29- Year-Old NASA Engineer

NASA engineer Mike Seaver describes skydiving as a controlled sport learned through training and experience. He explains free fall speeds around 125 mph, body positions like spread eagle, and the altimeter based chute deployment at about 2,500 feet. Seaver notes 415 jumps with no reserve use, and recounts his path from Army parachutist at Fort Campbell to a Sandusky NASA career, joining the Sandusky Bay Sport Parachute Club for cheaper jumps. He highlights learning from others and the appeal of the sport beyond a mere jump.
