Suburban Boy Fined for Driving Lawn Mower Car

A 12-year-old boy in Cleveland was ruled a traffic offender in Juvenile Court after driving a motorized soap box on a public street. He faced charges of unlicensed driving, unlicensed vehicle, and lacking brakes. the vehicle, driven by a lawn mower engine, moved about four miles per hour and was stopped by the boy dragging his feet. Judge John Toner ordered $11.75 in court costs.

California Supreme Court rules topless exhibitions not indecent

The California Supreme Court upheld the District Court of Appeals finding that the state law on outraging public decency is too vague to apply to topless exhibitions. The decision keeps topless displays from being criminalized under the disputed statute.

Nevada minister weds 69 couples without proper certification

In Las Vegas, Rev. Robert Truesdell, who runs a strip chapel, performed at least 69 weddings this month across at least 10 states. The minister was not properly certified by the state, casting doubt on the legality of the ceremonies.

A 21 year old New London man William McCullough is in serious condition at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a one car accident on West Main Street. The vehicle skidded off the road hitting a light pole and a tree and was first taken to Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital before transfer to Elyria Memorial at 4 a.m. He suffered head injuries.

Bellevue coach charged in school vandalism case

Green Springs educator George R. Shafer, a high school coach, was charged with willful and malicious entry into Bellevue Junior High School after police alleged vandalism at the school and nearby Columbia Gas building. He pleaded not guilty and faced a $50 fine with 30 days in jail in a prior ruling on a related suspicious person charge.

Two Women Injured In City Crash

A 66 year old Granville woman Hazel Curry was treated at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital after a two car collision at noon Wednesday. Mrs Pflieger suffered a cut forehead and did not need hospital care. Curry was northbound on Hester Street and failed to stop at League Street.

Ohio 18 Resurfacing Project in Huron County

A 4.39 mile section of Ohio 18 in Clarksfield Township, Huron County, will be resurfaced with a new asphalt top. Price Construction Co. of Norwalk leads a $100,000 contract for the State of Ohio. The work covers 4.36 miles in Lorain County as part of the project.
