Capt Ernest L Medina may become the first American officer tried as a war criminal for the My Lai massacre. He is charged with the slaying of at least 102 Vietnamese civilians during the March 16, 1968 village sweep.
Overflow crowds helped Wakeman offset Saturday rainouts with a parade and Queen’s Ball events. Donnie Todd was named queen at Friday’s festivities. Sunday featured tractor pulls, water fights, and a rock festival with fourteen teams from seven departments.

Ohio Tax Commissioner Kosydar affirmed Commonwealth Plan Inc must pay 473,942.60 in personal property tax for the dragline Big Muskie. The machine operated 2,000 hours in 1969, removed seven million cubic yards of overburden, and uncovered 298,000 tons of coal. The under construction provision does not apply once operable and used.
The administration will introduce an ordinance for a half million dollar upgrade of northeast Norwalk water facilities. Plans include new lines and a 750000 gallon elevated tank, with financing details to be reviewed in a possible closed council session.
