Toledo erupts in youth violence with fires and looting
Bands of youths, described as thieves by a Negro minister, tossed fire bombs and looted stores across Toledo Ohio. More than 80 arrests were made, most juveniles, as police fought fires including a two alarm blaze at Cleveland Tool and Supply Co and a $15 000 paint store fire on E Backcroft St. Authorities said disorder spread from the Negro district to the east west and north sections. A church leader saw no racial tone, calling it thievery by youths seeking goods for nothing.
