A fire on a four unit diesel engine of a New York Central Railroad train tied up traffic on U S 250 at 9 45 a m Sunday. Fire Chief Al Walters said wiring shorted causing insulation to burn and it took about two hours to extinguish. An emergency engine was sent in to start the train.
Police responded to a disturbance at an east side home early Sunday after reports of loud talking and a gun discharge. A young mother, reportedly depressed over birthday neglect, argued with her sister in law over drinking and claimed she fired into a closet but did not intend harm to self or others.
