Soviet border clash kills Chinese officer in Xinjiang

New China News Agency reports Soviet border troops killed a Chinese political officer and wounded a veterinarian during inspection of sheep pastures in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on July 16. The Xinjiang area has long seen clashes since the 1960s.

American crosses in 10-foot boat to England

Norwalk Man Dies After Three Vehicle Crash

Two Norwalk residents died from injuries after a three vehicle crash on U.S. 250 near Mason Road this past Monday. Michael R. Brownell, 20, died at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo after surgery. Pfc. Patrick W. McCrain, 19, died about six hours later. Brownell was a passenger in McCrain's car. Surviving relatives include his mother Arlene Brownell and siblings. Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday with burial at Riverside Cemetery Monroeville.
