Norwalk City Seeks Police and Fire Applicants

Two men sat civil service tests for police patrolmen on Wednesday night as no applicants weren't received for fire department or sewage plant operator exams. Captain Orin Doane plans to retire in August prompting a police captain eligibility list to pick his successor and a new patrolman to fill the vacancy. Morley Price, service director, urged more applicants for the fire and sewage operator exams after two prior city ads.

Traffic Light Adjusted to Ease League Street Bottleneck

Police Chief Lawrence Hilson announced a trial of traffic light adjustments at League Street and Whittlesey Avenue to reduce westbound left turn lineups. Westbound green time is 30 seconds while eastbound stays 20 seconds, with additional weekend changes planned from Saturday noon to Monday morning.
