Rocks Cover Clarksfield Farm After July 5 Flood
Clarksfield farmer Carl Gibson reports his 55 acre Verdant farm along Zenobia Road ruined by Vermilion River flood on July 5. The flood stripped topsoil on 48 acres and left thousands of rocks. A 20 acre corn field was waist high in June. The river carved new ground, creating deep craters and a near valueless property. Gibson estimates crop loss around 3000 dollars and doubts restoration is possible. He and his family live on Fitchville River Road and operate other lands with his father.
