Negotiations proceed for sale of the Norwalk Truck Lines building in Norwalk. Donald Manlowe of United Buckingham Freight Lines declines to name the interested buyer and sets no date for final agreement. About half of Norwalk staff have moved to Denver to establish the new general offices, with others expected to move by late August. No closing date for the Norwalk office has been set.

State workers cancel interdepartmental softball game in Frankfort

Fortas Testimony Before Senate Stirs Vietnam War Debate
Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that he participated in White House strategy meetings on the Vietnam War and urban riots while serving on the bench. He said his role was to summarize others views and he was not an expert on Vietnam. The hearing room was crowded as Gore noted Fortas could become the 15th chief justice. Also, Marine Corporal Ronald R. Coe of Norwalk, 19, died in Vietnam on July 13, with his funeral set after his body’s return. He served seven months in Vietnam and is survived by his parents and four siblings.
