Edgar Eisenhower older brother of President Eisenhower dies in a coma at 82 after strokes and a July 3 hospital admission. Burial date is listed as indefinite by Mountain View Funeral Home.
Joseph A Beirne of the Communications Workers of America says a nationwide telephone strike set for 6 am Wednesday seems unlikely to be averted. About 500000 workers could be affected as Bell System managers would run essential service while union negotiators debate spending.
In Montgomery a three year old boy named Eric Swihart died after being mauled by a dog in his parents' backyard. Police said he either climbed the fence or was dragged into a dog pen area where two or three dogs were kept. The dog believed responsible was moved to the local humane shelter.
Cherry Bakos of Cambridge became Ohio’s first 18-year-old voter as she cast her ballot at 6 30 a m for the Zane Trace Local School District operating levy in Center Two polling place. Her 19-year-old brother James Michael joined her in line at 5 a m and voted at 6 31 p m after her.
