Fatal dog attack claims young boy in Alabama yard

In Montgomery a three year old boy named Eric Swihart died after being mauled by a dog in his parents' backyard. Police said he either climbed the fence or was dragged into a dog pen area where two or three dogs were kept. The dog believed responsible was moved to the local humane shelter.

Cambridge Girl First 18-Year-Old Voter in Ohio

Cherry Bakos of Cambridge became Ohio’s first 18-year-old voter as she cast her ballot at 6 30 a m for the Zane Trace Local School District operating levy in Center Two polling place. Her 19-year-old brother James Michael joined her in line at 5 a m and voted at 6 31 p m after her.

Telephone Company seeks rate hike in Norwalk exchange

Northern Ohio Telephone Co filed with the Public Utilities Commission for a system wide rate increase aimed at a 13 percent revenue rise. Norwalk exchange residents would see monthly jumps from 4.25 to 5.15 and business lines from 9.50 to 10.75 with a 21 percent max for certain business lines.
