Norwalk National Guard Mobilized To Patrol Flooded City

The Norwalk National Guard activated Saturday to guard flood ravaged Norwalk with about a hundred guardsmen patrolling the city. Vehicles and weapons were damaged in the armory and 39 officers joined from an Akron unit to restore mobility. Col. Kermit Patchen and Capt. Al Caprara commanded posts at 11 road checkpoints and enforced curfews to deter looting. One arrest occurred when Arthur L. Ross allegedly breached a barricade and was released on bond.
