PUCO reverses course on North Fairfield crossing safety
A North Fairfield widow says she has reached the end of the line after the PUCO dropped its order for a flashing light at the Chessie System crossing where her husband Harold Norton was killed in 1973. The agency cited lack of authority and deemed the crossing not too dangerous. The pause in action leaves gates and warning devices uninstalled while a federal lawsuit against the railroad continues.
