Norwalk hosts a 95 unit parade at 10 a.m. expected to last two hours to the fairgrounds with afternoon children’s games and an evening fireworks display. Monroeville opens with a 10 a.m. parade and Marion Marsh Field hosts a noon to 6 p.m. chicken barbecue and a 9 30 p.m. fireworks show. Willard features a noon to 6 p.m. chicken barbecue a city pool water show a 9 30 p.m. fireworks and dancing 10 to 12.

Tragic All Star Football Friends Die In Norwalk Crash
Gary March Tom Prince and Joe Hillman, all St Paul High School football teammates and friends, were killed when March driver lost control on a bend, the car skidding into a railing and bursting into flames near Norwalk. Nick Takacs and others learned of the tragedy after visiting the wreck. Pallbearers named from St Paul and Western Reserve communities reflected the close ties among the families. The coroner cited multiple injuries as the cause of death.

Fire Threatens Farm Building Near Huffman Farm
North Fairfield firefighters were called at 1 pm Saturday to a grass fire at Keith Huffman 40 acre wheat field along New State Road South. The blaze reached the field edge and nearly hit a new barn but caused no serious damage.

Sandusky man charged with attempted burglary at Olena tavern
Robert Windau, 27, of Sandusky pleaded innocent in Huron County Common Pleas Court to attempted burglary after bar owner Robert Obermiller caught him and a second man breaking into Obie's Tavern in Olena before 4 a.m. A crow bar, a heavy screwdriver and a small black box were recovered. The second suspect fled in a light green car. Windau is held in the Huron County jail with bond set at 2,500 cash or 5,000 property.
