Western Reserve Board Approves 1.5 Million More for Schools
The Western Reserve Board of Education voted to allocate about 1.5 million dollars more for the 1978 budget, a 9.4 percent rise over 1977, largely to cover state mandated salary increases. Starting teacher pay rises to 8900 dollars for a bachelor’s degree, with some teachers seeing up to eight percent raises under state formulas. The administration projects increased costs in equipment, buses, library books, and maintenance, plus 2.946 for emergencies to possibly repair a high school heating system after the recent blizzard.
