Ohio Blizzard Linemen Brave Howling Gales to Restore Power
Eight Edison linemen based in Norwalk fought through the Blizzard of 1978 to repair downed lines and restore heat for 10 000 Ohio homes. They braved 75 mph winds ice coated poles and zero visibility climbing poles and riding buckets to restore service while families suffered freezing pipes at home. Foreman Jack Edwards and seven others named among a 75 strong crew faced broken gear and improvised tools as they battled the worst blizzard in state history. See How Page 3.
