NEW YORK (UPI) The two paycheck household has become a major economic trend of the 1970s. Money magazine notes such couples earn 55 percent more than one paycheck households but face heavy taxation. The first dollar of a working wife’s income is taxed at the same rate as the last dollar of the husband’s. If the husband earns 25000 and the wife 15000, she begins in the 43 percent bracket. The Bureau of Labor Statistics cites that two-salary families hold less total assets than one-wage households. City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of city hall.
