Coast Guard searches Atlantic for more after freeing four survivors

Four men survived a night adrift in a raft as the Spanish freighter Monte Palomares sank in gale force seas off the north Atlantic. Rescue workers say at least 23 crew members left the ship in lifeboats and a raft as 60 knot winds and 35 foot waves battered the listing vessel.

Induction Day Echoes On Dreary Norwalk Street

On East Main Street Norwalk at 7 a.m. 24 young men gathered for induction into the army or Marines. Miss Leona Weisenberger guided the group before they headed to Cleveland with rumors of Fort Benning and North Carolina training. Across the street a waiting bus stood by K and H Drug Store.

Pleads Innocent To Break-In In Huron County Court

Eric Lewis 32 known as Eugene W. Morgen pleaded not guilty in Huron County Common Pleas Court to breaking and entering after a Medina County arrest Aug 7 following a high speed chase with a woman companion. Virginia Cotton 28 faces aiding and abetting charges. Lewis previously pled guilty in Medina County to carrying a concealed weapon and was jailed five months with credit. Detainer filed from Pennsylvania where he is wanted on larceny burglary and receiving stolen property charges. Lewis has a long record including multiple burglary arrests and a statutory rape charge.
