County Tax Bill Tops $2.2 Million
Real estate tax statements for the first half of 1966 were mailed this weekend by Huron County Treasurer Harold B. Collier. The total tax charge reached 2,296,452 dollars with special assessments of 35,154.24 dollars. After January 31 a 10 percent penalty applies under state law.

Administrator Proposed Replacing BPA In North Fairfield
Mayor Charles Zeller told North Fairfield Council he asked Village Solicitor Bernard Freeman to draft ordinances replacing the Board of Public Affairs with a village administrator and combining clerk and treasurer offices. The ordinances would take effect after the current BPA term ends, and passage is expected after meetings this fall. Five contracts for the coming year were signed with Brownson Greenfield and Peru township.

Charles E. Eby was elected president of the Monroeville School District Board of Education replacing George E. Bright. Laverne R. Miller was elected vice president. Regular meetings remain the second Tuesday of each month at 8 p.m. in the high school home economics room. Members' pay stays at 3 dollars per regular meeting. A temporary three month 1967 appropriation was approved based on 25 percent of 1965 expenditures.

Plane lands on Turnpike near Monroeville
Kaiser reported spotting the plane on the Turnpike by his home as he and his wife returned from church. The craft was parked in his cornfield after minor propeller damage was repaired and the pilot, King, was cited for illegal landing on the turnpike. Virgil planned to fly the airplane home today.
