Fire traps five children as two adults escape in Ohio

A two and a half story frame house fire in Cleveland killed Curtis Ellis Jr. 17 Sandra 13 Tammy 11 Thelma 9 and Clarence 8 while brother Curtis Ellis Sr. and Mrs Lucille Ellis were not home at the time Their brother escaped by jumping from a second floor window and was hospitalized The blaze began shortly after 3 am at their home and their mother works nights at Metropolitan General Hospital. The incident followed by a gas supply note unrelated to the fire.
