Vietnamese General Do Cao Tri Killed in Camelot Heist

Lt. Gen. Do Cao Tri, top South Vietnamese commander in Cambodia, died when his helicopter exploded on takeoff near Tay Ninh. Eight others were aboard including four American officers Newsweek correspondent Francois Sully, and three Vietnamese crewmen. One survivor reported.

Midwest paralyzed by winds and snowdrifts across states

Nationwide weather havoc stalled travel from Kansas to Iowa as 50 mph winds piled snowdrifts. Tornadoes hit Indiana Ohio the Carolinas and Georgia leaving multiple deaths and injuries.

Tornadoes Strike Columbus Area Injuring Residents

United Press International reports high winds and two tornadoes hit the Columbus area causing substantial damage. At least four people were injured. a Bexley attendant described a funnel cloud splitting and touching down near houses. Floods receded in southern Ohio as rivers overflowed elsewhere and many roads remained blocked.

Property tax receipts show mixed gains for Huron County 1970

Ohio Public Expenditure Council reports total county property tax income rose to 7 446 637 in 1970 up 524 020 from 1969 while municipalities in the county lost 14 784. School districts led gains with 436 499 increases to 5 712 332. County 653 239 up 88 841 and townships 13 468 more to 351 938.

Bomb threat closes Willard High School

Willard High School was closed at 2:30 p.m. Monday after a bomb threat was received. Police searched the building with officers posted outside while students stayed home. A second scare weeks earlier prompted a brief dismissal.
