City Won't Pay Airport Lawyer in Norwalk Dispute

The City of Norwalk will no longer cover its share of legal bills for aeronautics attorney Harry Riggs hired to defend the county airport authority and others in a $1.1 million Zoellner suit. Mayor Goodsite announced the decision after a council meeting, stating Riggs’s $326 bill will be paid from airport funds or Zoellner rent going forward. the case remains unsettled with a trial paused since December 1977.

Kids Pay For Dad Murder In Cleveland Case

In Cleveland two West Side teens a 17-year-old boy and his 14-year-old sister paid Jerome Watkins 60 to kill their father John T White 41. Detectives say the body lay in the home for 10 days while the youths spent the money and the suspects were held in a county detention home. Authorities say the motive was to gain freedom to do as they wished including smoking pot. A 19-year-old youth is sought for the killing. The article also notes Walter Cronkite wore horn rim glasses on CBS TV prompting fan inquiries though no change in his normal routine.

Woman Killed In Crash At U S 224 And Ohio 60

An elderly Ruggles Township woman, Mildred A. Hamilton, died when her 1956 red Cadillac collided with a tanker truck on U S 224 at Ohio 60 in New London. The truck, owned by Ny Trex of Loudonville, struck the car as witnesses said she did not stop. both drivers were at the scene as deputies investigated. The accident occurred in wet icy road conditions and the body was taken to Samaritan Hospital for autopsy. Eastman Funeral Home will handle arrangements.

Teacher Slap Sparks Fight Over Damaged Tooth in New London

Larry Collins, uncle of 17 year old Scott Collins, demands school payment to fix his nephew’s chipped front tooth after assistant high school principal James Van Sickle backhanded him on a bus on Feb 5. The incident followed a Feb 2 bus discipline episode leading to suspensions. Van Sickle says the slap was mild and necessary to restore order.

Killer Sues Victim's Daughter Over Letter to Editor

Convicted killer Larry Dean Robinson filed a $450,000 civil suit in Huron County Common Pleas Court against Mrs. Eldean Kessler of New Haven, alleging a Willard Times Letter to the Editor titled Reply to Robinson defamed him. Robinson, serving life at Lucasville, claims the Oct. 19 1978 piece damaged his reputation and caused distress. He seeks $150,000 compensatory and $300,000 punitive damages, and requests a jury trial in forma pauperis.
