Helicopter stunt raises security questions at White House
A Florida soldier, Pfc. Robert K. Preston, stole an unarmed UH18 helicopter from Fort Meade and flew toward the White House at high speed. He crash landed on the Ellipse, with Secret Service firing buckshot as Maryland troopers tracked him and he was taken for psychiatric evaluation.

Secret Service protection was terminated for Spiro T. Agnew as of midnight, four months after his resignation as vice president. Agnew was on a golf vacation in Palm Springs when agents were withdrawn, a Treasury Department decision cited by agency spokesman Jack Warner.
