Norwalk's Reclusive Philanthropist Olive Bollenbacher Dies At 87
Olive E. Bollenbacher of Norwalk died Saturday night at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital at age 87 after a stroke and subsequent illnesses. A frugal recluse, she donated thousands to 30 plus charities worldwide, supported Save the Children and Red Cross, and fostered 25 or more children since 1925 through the Save The Children Foundation. Her guardian as named by the Probate Court noted she lived on a two room wooded lot, gave freely to causes, and lived simply with minimal personal needs.
