Murder defendant objects to insanity plea in Ohio case
Schwiefert 23 faces aggravated murder charges in Huron County Common Pleas Court after an indictment without plea entered. His court appointed lawyer entered two pleas not guilty to the charge and not guilty by reason of insanity but Schwiefert objected to the insanity option. The court postponed arraignment pending a psychiatrist's examination to advise on the insanity plea. He allegedly killed Kenneth Shaw near Monroeville on January 27 and is an escapee from a Florida prison. The grand jury cited escape-related intent and prior attempted homicide as aggravating specifications. Fegen was reappointed as attorney after initial appointment by acting judge Waugh.
