Americans Lead Mission Against Dark Disease in Naples

Three US disease experts flew to Italy to assist health officials in containing a mysterious virus that has killed 64 infants in the Naples area over a year. A British specialist joined the team to halt the spread of the dark disease, which caused three more infant deaths over the weekend. The illness begins with breathing difficulty and high fevers, then causes convulsions, coma, and death.

John Wayne Leaves Hospital After Cancer Surgery

John Wayne, 71, returned to his Newport Beach beachfront home for a lengthy recovery after stomach cancer surgery at UCLA Medical Center. A family member said he was walking inside the hospital to regain strength and is increasing his food intake. Pathology showed cancer had spread to nearby lymph glands, which were removed during the January 13 operation.

County Prosecutes 13 For Delinquent Taxes

Huron County prosecutes 13 individuals and businesses for unpaid personal property taxes totaling 28552 dollars. Cases filed by Assistant Prosecutor Jack Fynes on behalf of Treasurer Ardeth Chapp cover 1 to 3 year old totals. Names withheld pending mail notices.
