New Orleans Witness Set to Testify on Kennedy Plot Link

Perry Russo, 27, is ready to testify that he heard a meeting in Ferrie’s apartment where Shaw Lee Harvey Oswald and others discussed and refined a plot to murder President Kennedy. The trial of Shaw entered its third day as Russo prepared to speak after hours of cross examination of another witness.

Drug firms convicted of price fixing boost Ohio revenue

Five national drug companies led by Cyanamid Pfizer and Bristol-Myers were found guilty of price fixing tetracycline and related drugs. Ohio Attorney General Paul Brown said the convictions will add at least 3 million dollars to state coffers with Upjohn and Squibb named as co-conspirators.

Farmer Seen In HEW Job

Secretary Robert H. Finch indicated that James E. Farmer former head of CORE would likely be named to a key HEW post next week. Finch said an announcement would come early next week and noted HEW currently has one undersecretary. Farmer, who led CORE, was defeated for Congress by Shirley Chisholm last November.

The Defense Department disclosed the names of 27 U S service members killed in action in Vietnam. Among them is Spec 4 Steven M Britton of Galion Ohio husband of Mrs Brabara K Britton.

Ohio farmer convicted of writing over one million dollars in bad checks

Thomas Creachbaum, a 36 year old farmer from Circleville Ohio, was found guilty by a Pickaway County Common Pleas Court jury of writing more than 1 million dollars in bad checks. The judge deferred sentence and raised bond from 25000 to 50000 after the verdict. He admitted to passing checks to buy a 440 acre farm near Greenfield, and later writing insufficient funds checks for operating expenses.

Viet Cong Plot Foiled At Saigon Police HQ And Jet Runway

Saigon police said they arrested two Viet Cong death squads and disrupted a plan to blow up Saigon police headquarters and a jet runway at the U S Airbase. National Police Chief Col. Tran Van Hai said the group included a woman and a professor and aimed to influence Paris peace talks. Their plans were aborted.

Pueblo Security Chief Criticizes Destruction Plan

Navy security expert Capt. John Williams testified before a Navy court of Inquiry that officers on the USS Pueblo used ill-chosen methods to destroy secret papers after capture. He said the material could have been destroyed in an hour and staff had two hours, despite lack of sophisticated devices. The hearing investigates the January 23 1968 capture by North Korea.

Youth Arrests At Drug Party As Violence Occurs

Neighbors call police after Pfc Rufus Johnson is critically stabbed in a street corner fight linked to a party at a neighborhood club. In a basement search officers find a loaded pistol knives marijuana and a starter pistol. 68 youths aged 10 15 are booked for juvenile offenses and freed 40 youths aged 16 18 held on weapon and drug charges awaiting arraignment.

Huron Teen Killed In High Speed Train Collision

A 16 year old girl Linda Boswell of Huron was burned to death when a speeding car she rode in slammed into a B and O train near Bowling Green Ohio. Driver Paul Harness 17 and other passengers were treated for minor injuries. Police cited excessive speed as the probable cause.

Ramos Convicted Of City Stabbing

Ramos was found guilty by a three judge panel of stabbing George Holtz on October 18. Sentencing was deferred for a review of his prior record and probation is likely. Two suspects in the case face separate charges.
