White Teacher Killed Outside Philadelphia Junior High
Samson L. Freeman a 56 year old white art and ceramics teacher and former chairman of the school district human relations committee was shot in the back of the neck as he exited Morris E Leeds School in Mt Airy Philadelphia. Two boys about 14 or 15 were seen fleeing the yard as juvenile gang squads searched for suspects.

118 Appeal Tax Bills In Huron County
Huron County Auditor Kenneth W. Reed reported 118 taxpayers protested real estate valuations as part of a county wide reappraisal by United Appraisal Co. The reappraisal raised total taxable value to 111 601 900, an 18 percent increase from 1963. Taxpayers will be notified by mail for formal hearings, which will be tape recorded and decided at a later special meeting.

Fire Destroys Leimeister Barn. Five sows and pigs lost
A barn owned by the Leimeister Brothers on Barrow Road Berlin Heights burned early today after a heater placed in water for cattle fell into hay. Five sows and 20 piglets perished, along with farm machinery. Five steers were rescued. the building measured 80 by 60 feet. Fire departments from Berlin Heights Huron and Milan battled the blaze through noon.

Three Willard Men Charged With Narcotics
Three young Willard men Herbert G. Lewellen 23 John Yacob Jr 20 and Danny D. Yacob 18 were arrested on narcotics possession charges. They are held in Huron County Jail awaiting preliminary hearings in Common Pleas Court. Police Chief Jack Fryman said details would be released after formal charges.
Ohioans Turn On Gas To Keep Warm In Deep Freeze
Ohioans used over 7 billion cubic feet of gas in one day to stay warm as temperatures fell below zero across the state. Toledo dipped to 9 below and Cleveland to 6 below, a February record for that city, with Norwalk at four below for the second night. Columbia Gas reported a record 3.7 billion cubic feet used by 8 a.m., averaging 3.4 billion for the past week, while officials said no shortage risk due to a mild winter. The forecast calls for a moderating trend, with sunshine and a potential late night or Wednesday snow threat from a low pressure system.
