Fire damages Norwalk home and tractor accident injure teen

A defective floor heater caused a fire at the Dell Overton residence 21 West Willard Street. Damage est at 3000 to 4000 dollars with no occupants inside. A 15 year old boy, Grant Wang, was injured when a farm tractor overturned at 4 pm near 332 East Main Street and hospitalized in satisfactory condition.

Norris faces armed robbery charge. Norris to be represented

Norwalk attorney Donald H. Derby was appointed to defend Donald L. Norris 31 of 280 W Main St in the armed robbery case. Common Pleas Court Judge Robert J. Vetter set $10,000 cash or $20,000 property bond after Norris filed a poverty affidavit and pleaded not guilty. Norris allegedly took $300 from Woolworth manager Mrs Eugene Shumer on December 22 while armed with a pistol.

Misfits Motorcycle Club Suspects Jailed After Farmhouse Raid

Ten adults and two juveniles alleged members of The Misfits motorcycle club were arrested December 21 in Margaretta Township. Spencer Blatnik of Sandusky and Earl L. Karr of Castalia were brought to Norwalk for hearings. Initial charges included contributing to the unruliness of a minor, now upgraded to shooting with intent to wound and armed robbery. Karr faces further counts of breaking and entering a constable’s car, grand larceny for a shotgun theft, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Norwalk Weather Harsh Snow Continues With Flurries Possible

Weather bulletin reports heavy snow and blowing snow with drifting this morning. Highs in the upper 20s to low 30s with partly cloudy skies. Tonight colder with a small chance of snow flurries and lows around the upper teens. Thursday partly cloudy with highs in the low 30s. Friday outlook shows cloudy skies and a chance of more snow, variable winds 10 to 20 mph. Norwalk readings include high 35 and low 25 with 44 inches total snow and precipitation, births and deaths noted.

Clubs and Lodges Plan New Year Celebrations in Maple City
