Flammable Dolls Were Sold Here in Norwalk

Norwalk Fire Department warns against two inexpensive rag dolls described as highly flammable by state fire marshalls. W.T. Grant Co. sold the dolls for two years before removing them. Dolls have cotton bodies and a cellulose nitrate coating that ignites at low temperatures and emits toxic gas. Officials ask residents to surrender dolls for disposal.

Jury Criticizes Clergy Over Hough Riots in Cleveland

The Cuyahoga County Grand Jury in its 1966 fall term report criticizes disrespectful youth lax parents and misguided clergy. It cites concern over clergy aiding rioters on Superior Avenue and eight indicted men linked to violence. The panel notes narcotics pornography youth crime and ease of obtaining weapons and returns 973 indictments.

Harlem Globetrotters Help Fund Norwalk Sesquicentennial

The Harlem Globetrotters visit Norwalk Wednesday night to boost the sesquicentennial fund. Organizers expect about 2,300 tickets sold and a net around 1600 dollars after expenses for next year’s celebration. The next fund raiser is The Sesquicentennial Ball on April 1 at the Norwalk Armory.
