State Police report 13 missing and 32 dead from the Silver Bridge disaster eight days after the collapse into the Ohio River. Three more victims were recovered Thursday. officials cannot estimate vehicles still on the river bottom.
President Johnson halted in Karachi en route from Vietnam during his first round the world journey. He greeted Pakistan’s President Ayub Khan and spoke to U S fliers at Cam Ranh Bay amid plans for a possible Vatican meeting with Pope Paul VI. He praised Allied soldiers and noted the journey would exceed 27 000 miles before Christmas.
Gordon Dunderdale awoke to find his wife Brenda missing from their fireside nap. Hours later he learns she is in hospital and has given birth to a 6 pound boy, making him a father for the nlth time. He says he did not know she was pregnant.
Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson celebrated her 55th birthday with a White House staff party and a family supper while President Johnson was abroad. The First Lady said she misses her husband as he travels around the world. About 1,000 staff attended the executive mansion event.
UPI reports the Labor Department shows the consumer price index up 0.3 percent in November to 117.8, a 2.8 percent year over year rise. A housewife would pay $11.78 for a $10 basket compared to the 1957-59 base.

Santa Claus makes his first Zamoramo visit delivering six tons of toys and clothes donated by Michigan people. Willie Wales, an Iron River Peace Corps volunteer, organized the drive with WIKB radio help then sent the gifts on a United Fruit Co banana boat to Puerto Cortes Honduras.
Two Bucyrus women Charlene Surgener and Marie Agee were arrested by Bellevue police on grand larceny charges for stealing $184 from two employees purses at Western Auto. A seven year old accompanying them allegedly took two $5 bills from another purse in a different store. Nearby, tools valued at $60 were stolen from Somsak Service Center Route 224 Wellington area. Also noted is the Norwalk Area United Fund annual meeting set for Wednesday at the Elks Country Club with director elections to follow.
Glenda Gampher a University of Missouri Normandy senior was found under a Forest Park tree in sub freezing weather. She was pronounced dead but revived in the morgue as coroner began an autopsy and she remains in critical condition at city hospital.
A longtime Norwalk Christian activist, Victor Van Hentenryck, now 69, devotes hours weekly to churches hospitals Gideon Bible work and youth education. Friends praise his 30 year ministry in nursing homes jail preaching and sign painting while noting his humor gentle approach and steadfast prayer.
